At the beginning of the month the OCC bloggers put out a challenge— (pick one or the other — or both!)
~Will you commit to devoting ten dollars of your back-to-school shopping for your Operation Christmas Child shoebox?
~ How far can you stretch that ten dollars with the back-to-school sales?
Today we are hosting a link-up! This is the perfect time to score some great deals on items that could be sent in an Operation Christmas Child box.We encourage you to blog about your findings. If you haven’t done the challenge yet– that’s ok! Link up when you’ve completed it! Need ideas? See 100 Shoebox Ideas for Boys and 100 Shoebox Ideas for Girls.
Let me tell you a secret about me— I am not a shopper. You will rarely find me going to multiple stores to get the best deals. Give me a list and one store and I’ll get it done. For this challenge, I decided I wanted to see how much I could get for $10. We fill multiple boxes at church, so I wasn’t looking to find items that would fill one box, but that could be included in many. Here’s another secret– I just might have procrastinated on this challenge. So I prayed. I didn’t have much time since it was the night before I was suppose to blog about this. I had just sat out in the hot sun with my older kids watching them play soccer and wasn’t in the mood to shop. We decided to stop at Walgreens to pick up a couple of drinks when I saw a clearance rack full of school supplies! Thank you Lord! I could do my challenge in 1 store in less than 10 minutes! I was truly surprised at how much I was able to get for just a little over $10.
- 4 slider pencil cases
- 1 package of 18 erasers
- 20 red pens
- 4 Fiskars blunt-tip scissors for kids
- 24 pencils
- 4 mini Post-It note stacks
- 4 packages of Post-It note flags
I saved $19.25! Not bad for an unplanned shopping trip with no coupons!
Will you be filling any OCC boxess this year?
