Homemade Spa Bath Gift with Essential Oils

This is a tag-team blog post written by my good blogger (and IRL) friend, Jodi and I. Last month she drove an hour to my house to do a Valentine activity with my kids and bring me food (isn’t she is awesome!) While here she taught my kids how to make homemade spa bath gifts using essential oils.

How to Make a Homemade Spa Bath Gift
(perfect for Valentine’ s Day or new moms)

By GranolaMom4God

I had to leave before our project was finished.  I had no idea how our sitz bath heart would turn out.  Or if it even would. But is that really the point? Sometimes the activity is really just the vehicle to spend quality time together.  I had traveled up to visit my friend, Maureen, who just had a baby.  I wanted to bless her with food and something fun for her kiddos to do.  We had fun and we smelled good.  But like I already said, I’m not too sure how our craft turned out. I’ll leave that to Maureen to share.

1/2 c. citric acid, powder
6-8 drops of Young Living Essential Oil
V-6 oil or coconut oil
Silicone molds

and mix the powders together.

Next add about 6-8 drops of an essential oil. The girls were allowed to pick their oils — and the oils they picked — were the calming ones:

Gentle Baby
Joy
Peace & Calming
Valor
Lavender
Vetiver

Once the essential oil of choice was added and mixed, our concoction was pressed into a heart mold and placed carefully on a shelf to harden. {Recipe adapted from The Young Living Experience with Everyday Oils}

I loved this activity because it was a wonderful opportunity to talk to the girls about how essential oils help our bodies and it was a great way for them to do something for their mom — to help her relax.

The Results

My girls could not wait to use their bath goodies. Yes, they supposedly made it for me, but they wanted to try it out first :) After waiting a day, we decided to test one out. According to the original recipe, the mixture was supposed to harden and then pop out of the mold. Ours stayed a soft powder. That didn’t matter though! The girls dunked the whole thing in the bath and let it dissolve. It worked just the same :) The thing that impressed me was that each girl knew exactly which oil they had used and could recognize it by scent! They were so proud– and smelled good! We already have plans to make more!  Thank you Jodi for showing us how to make these beneficial spa gifts!
